Welcome to the 2005
ALO Picturing Change Photography Competition

Entries in the “Picturing Change” photography competition illustrate the activities of ALO partnerships and portray the ways both the host country institution and the U.S. institution and their communities benefit from partnership activities. All ALO partners were eligible for entry, and submitted photographs were judged on how well they address development themes and on artistic merit. (View the winners from 2003 and 2004)

“The Women Farmers Vote”
Assa Kante, ALO participant/l’Institut d’Economie Rurale scientist, and Montana State University Junior Mentor confer with Bougoula farmers: What are their greatest water-related issues? Kante began Mali’s Agribusiness Entrepreneurial, Incubator Center innovative outreach using facilitating farmer-to-farmer teaching and learning linked to USAID’s Communiity Learning and Information Center in Bougoula.

“Dr. Bijan Fazlollahi, Professor of Decision Sceinces and Logistics at Georgia State University discussing the application of new logistics and distribution channels methods with participants in the continuing education program offered simultaneously in Alexandria and Cairo using distance learning technology.

“Student spirits were high during the IPSI/BGSU March journalism workshop at IPSI in Tunis, Mehdi Ben Hamza (left), Jihene Eddheyaa (center) and Hassen Srarfi are among the ten 4th year IPSI students who will attend a 3-week “Women, Media, & Democracy,” workshop at Bowling Green State University.
