STATEMENT FROM AASCU PRESIDENT MURIEL A. HOWARD ON SUPPORT FOR MEMBERS AFFECTED BY HURRICANE HARVEY

AASCU’s thoughts and prayers are with the people of Texas as they deal with the devastating damage in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. We are greatly encouraged by the acts of generosity from community members and people around the country during this time of extraordinary need.

We are also appreciative for the assistance offered by the U.S. Department of Education that can benefit our members. Earlier today, the Department activated its emergency response contact center to help the Texas higher education and K-12 communities deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The center’s contacts are toll-free by phone at 1-844-348-4082, or by email at HarveyRelief@ed.gov

Texas is home to a dynamic, diverse constellation of public colleges and universities that provide high-quality educational opportunities to more than half a million students annually. AASCU is committed to supporting our campuses as they continue their mission of educational access and opportunity and regional stewardship and economic progress in service to Texas.
