AFRO-NETS has launched a new web site at http://www.afronets.org that will serve as the home page for an electronic discussion group on African Networks for Health Research and Development. The web site will contain news and events, useful links, and documents related to the discussions. TALEEM becomes Egypt's first educational and training portal, this web site allows viewers to get a broader perspective on career and educational opportunities available within the Middle East. The Women's Learning Partnership (WLP) has recently released a new training manual entitled "Leading to Choices: A Leadership Training Handbook for Women." The handbook has been "tested" and used in leadership training workshops in several countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East with positive results. Grants & Fellowships

The IRIS Center at the University of Maryland and Barents Group of KMPG Consulting are conducting a program of grants and collaborative activity to improve the quality of economic analysis in Russia and Eastern European countries in transition. IRIS invites think tanks that specialize in Russian, Eastern European, and Western economic policy to apply for the program. The deadline for applications is March 29, 2002. The Fulbright Commission in Egypt announces the University Partnership Program, designed to create institutional development through the development and internationalization of curricula. The National Endowment for Democracy has established the Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program to enable democracy activists, practitioners, scholars, and journalists from around the world to enhance their ability to promote democracy. The International Forum hosts 12-15 fellows per year for three to ten months each. Stipend levels range from a minimum of $3500/month to a maximum of $7500/month. The C.V. Starr Foundation will award three fellowships to mid-career professionals from developing countries in Eastern Europe, Russia, the former Soviet Republics, Africa, Latin America and South Asia to study at The George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs. Fellows will pursue the Master of International Policy and Practice (M.I.P.P.) program during the 2002-2003 academic year. The M.I.P.P. is an intensive, one-year degree program for mid-career professionals with a flexible curriculum.
