HED ANNOUNCES A FREE WORKSHOP FOR MINORITY SERVING INSTITUTIONS
HED is Hosting a Workshop on USAID's New Foreign Assistance Framework

Washington, DC (December 18, 2006) - Higher Education for Development (HED) will conduct a free workshop on the US Agency for International Development’s (USAID’s) New Foreign Assistance Framework, in cooperation with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ Grants Resource Center (GRC). The workshop is designed specifically for Minority Serving Institutions (HBCUs, HSIs, and TCUs) and scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 28 and Thursday, March 1, 2007 at AASCU’s headquarters in Washington, DC – 1307 New York Avenue, NW.

Day One (February 28, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) will focus on New Program Opportunities for Minority Serving Institutions in the US. USAID’s Program Managers will be on hand to provide information on the Agency’s New Direction, including new areas of focus and changes in foreign assistance program areas.

Day Two (March 1, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) will focus on HED’s worldwide Institutional Partnership Program. Sessions will focus on HED’s Requests for Applications, application processing, the peer review process (including a simulation of a peer review panel) and helpful hints on how MSIs can increase their involvement/participation in HED’s Institutional Partnerships Program.

Space is limited and participation will be on a first come, first served basis. Minority Serving Institutions that would like to participate in the workshop should contact Jessica Weber at Jweber@hedprogram.org by January 15, 2007.

This program is coordinated with the GRC Spring “Successful Proposal Writing Workshop,” March 1-3, taking place in the same location.

The HED program engages the resources of higher education institutions in the United States and abroad for global social and economic development through human and institutional capacity building. HED assists the nation’s six major higher education associations and their members in partnering with USAID, as well as other development agencies and donor organizations.
