HED publishes the results of roundtables, partnerships, and special initiatives, as well as informational reports and research, to assist in strengthening development knowledge. HED publications illustrate the benefits and impact of the higher education community on development practice. In addition, HED makes available publications released by the Association Liaison Office for University Cooperation in Development (ALO), HED's predecessor.

Higher Education Partnerships for International Development: Knowledge, Cooperation, Results,
(Volume IV: 2004). This volume is an update of the popular "Results" book and describes the ways higher education partnerships get results. It includes a detailed description and information on all of ALO's partnerships (large file, ~1MB).

This report details ALO partnerships in Mexico through June 2005, inlcluding descriptions of Training, Internships, Exchanges, and Scholarships (TIES) partnerships, Higher Education Institutional Partnerships for Development Cooperation, and International Workforce Development Partnerships.

Japan - United States Dialogue Seminar: Exploring the Role of Universities in Japan and the United States in Educational Cooperation for Development, (2005). This report showcases a seminar held Otober 17-20, 2004 in Hiroshima, Japan. The purpose of the seminar was to have an open exchange of ideas and to discuss the potential for a tripartite approach (host country-Japan-U.S.) to educational cooperation for development. This report is a brief synopsis of the three-day seminar, and highlights the outcomes and future directions to be pursued through participant networking.

Policy Roundtable Series: Strategies for U.S. - Developing Country Collaboration in Distance Education, (2003). This report summarizes the proceedings and results of the ALO roundtable of the same name held October 24-25, 2002. The focus of the roundtable was on the use of information technology for educational purposes, including developing courseware, obtaining an academic or professional credential, and faculty-researcher networking. The summary provides an assessment of some of the issues in distance education within the United States today, descriptions of case studies and models for collaboration in distance education, and a review and analysis of the five models presented during the roundtable.
