Presidential groups

Standing committees are established by the Board of Directors to advance AASCU's agenda in selected areas related to the strategic goals and priorities of the association. Committees meet at the Annual Meeting and at least once again during the year for a one- to two-day period. Committee members serve staggered three-year terms. The Chair and Vice-Chair are appointed annually by the Chair of the Board of Directors.

The Council of State Representatives

The Council of State Representatives has representation from each state where there is an AASCU member school. The Council is responsible for helping to formulate and recommend the Public Policy Agenda to the Association, and to assist staff in carrying out the Agenda through contacts with stakeholders and members, including the Federal government and members of Congress. The Council serves as an immediate resource for advice when matters of public policy emerge on federal or state legislative matters of immediate concern or to advise staff on topical issues of public policy that may affect public colleges and universities. A mid-year meeting of the Council is held in Washington, DC for members to meet with their congressional representatives and to hear from and discuss policy issues with colleagues, federal officials, congressional staff and members.
