What is GrantSearch? Next | Previous
The GRC GrantSearch database contains descriptions, deadlines and contact information on nearly 2,000 federal and private funding programs of particular interest to higher education institutions that subscribe to GRC services.

The database contains programs that support academic activities such as research and training, fellowships, program development, and equipment acquisition. All featured programs cater to national or large regional audiences, and most are geared to faculty or postdoctoral investigators.

Each entry outlines the overall program purposes and priorities, deadline(s), and contact information.

Deadlines Top | Previous
Deadline information is current as of the most recently announced deadline at the time GRC last verified the program entry. In most cases, closing dates are assumed to follow annual or cyclical patterns. Programs with deadlines that appear out-of-date may not necessarily be competed annually or may not have been competed at all for several years.

Types of deadline patterns include:

  • Annual Deadline. If the program has an annual deadline in June, it is assumed that next year's deadline will also be in summer. The National Science Foundation's Course, Curriculum & Laboratory Improvement Program generally has an annual deadline for required proposals.

  • Multi-year Deadline. Cyclical competitions, such as the TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers Program, is competed every four years. If the most recent application deadline was in September 1997, the next application deadline will be fall of 2001. Other programs may have longer or shorter cycles.

  • Suspended Deadline. The last competition held under Health Resources and Services Administration's Health Administration Traineeships and Special Projects Program was in 1996. However, the program is still authorized and it is possible that it will receive funding again in the future.

  • Other Types of Deadlines. Some programs appear in the database with tentative or unannounced deadlines. GRC gathers information on these programs to project the likelihood of pending or future competitions. Programs that list no application deadline accept proposals at any time on a rolling basis.

The program description often elaborates on or explains the deadline information and program priorities. Since program status and deadlines may change on short notice, it is imperative that potential investigators utilize the contact information to confirm program information and deadlines. When available, Web pages are also provided.
