David E. McFarland
David McFarland is Chief Executive Officer and Senior Associate of Penson Associates, Inc. He is also President Emeritus of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where he previously served as president for fourteen years.
With an extensive national client base, McFarland consults in the areas of: leadership development, governing board development and assessment, presidential performance appraisal and development, executive transition management, team development, strategic planning, organizational alignment and conflict resolution.
McFarland is also a regular speaker and workshop facilitator at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. He has co-chaired two White House Conferences on Teacher Education and served on the faculty for the Experienced President’s Academy. He holds an honorary doctorate degree from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. McFarland is the recipient of the National Educator of the Year award from the Caron Foundation, a nationally recognized center for drug and alcohol research and treatment.
McFarland earned a B.S. and M.S. from Wichita State University and a Ph.D. from The University of Kansas.
