2018 AASCU/NAFSA Institute for Senior International Officers
Wednesday, February 21, 2018 to Friday, February 23, 2018The American Association of State Colleges and
Universities (AASCU) and NAFSA: Association of International Educators are
pleased to announce the 2018 Institute for Senior International Officers.
Designed for senior
international officers (SIOs) working on AASCU member campuses, the institute
offers participants an introduction to and examination of the key skills and
knowledge a SIO must master as a leader of internationalization at a public
comprehensive college or university.
About the Conference
Applicants accepted into this focused and practical professional development institute will benefit from sessions led by a group of experienced internationalization leaders and topical experts. This institute is ideal for senior administrators with less than five years of experience that want to deepen their knowledge, expertise and leadership skills.
The two-and-a-half-day program will introduce participants to key issues in the critical subject areas for which SIOs are responsible. The program will address topics including principles of internationalization, risk management, international education leadership, strategic partnership development, curriculum internationalization, outcomes assessment, resource development, budget management, and the “culture” of international educational exchange.
Applications must be received by Friday, January 12, 2018.
The SIO institute will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21 and end on Friday, February 23 at 5 p.m.
Registration for a Senior International Officer: $895
The fee includes all program sessions and materials and an opening reception, breakfast, lunch and refreshments at all breaks. All SIOs are expected to register and participate in all program activities.

A special room block has been reserved at the Embassy Suites DC Convention
Center. The rate for a single/double room is $229 a night. Breakfast and
evening refreshments are included in this rate. AASCU will be making your room
reservations for you so that you can enjoy AASCU's tax-free Washington, D.C.,
status. You will be invoiced for your room nights after the meeting has
concluded. This will save you from paying the 14.5% hotel tax per night.

Cancellation & Refund Policytop
If you must cancel your registration, you will receive a full refund if the cancellation is before 5 p.m. EST Friday, January 12th, 2018. There will be a 50% cancellation fee after that date.
