Join colleagues at AASCU’s annual summer conference to explore topics related to life in the presidency. Our program theme, “Uncharted Waters,” will focus on the college and university presidency in periods of economic and social challenge to provide inspiration and practical guidance to those who must lead during difficult times.
Although attendance is normally limited to current presidents and chancellors of member institutions (and their families), the Board of Directors invites all former presidents, chancellors and family members to register for the 2009 Summer Council.
Final Program
Most presidents arrive Saturday, July 18 or Sunday, July 19 (before the Opening Session) and most depart Wednesday afternoon, July 22 (after the Farewell Brunch.)
Women presidents participating in the Women President’s Program need to arrive by Friday, July 17.

Youth Program
Registration Fee $65 per youth
AASCU plans activities for children (minimum age of 6) and young people during the morning hours on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday while their parents are in sessions. Advance registration is required and parents must submit a release form before young people may participate.
Youth program participants will enjoy breakfast with their parents, before departing for activities. Experience has taught us that in many instances, the young people do not eat unless they are with one of their parents. This causes problems when they are hungry and away from the property on outings. They will return about noon, in time to meet their parents at the close of the morning sessions. We design activities based on the ages of the participants so specific information will be available closer to the meeting. Typical activities include sports, hikes, bike outings, or excursions to points of interest to young people.
Contact the AASCU meetings office if you are considering bringing young people to the Summer Council. We will maintain a list of possible participants in the youth program for other presidents to reference as they decide whether or not to bring their children. In this way, AASCU can share information that might enhance the success of the youth program. We also need to know in advance how many participants to expect so we can arrange appropriate supervision.
