Dr. Edith Peterson Mitchell is a clinical professor of Medicine and Medical Oncology, program leader in Gastrointestinal Oncology and associate director of diversity for the Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Mitchell received the ASCO Humanitarian Award in 2012 for her volunteer service in medically underprivileged areas, which resulted in provisions of quality care for those in need. In 2015, Dr. Mitchell was named the 116th President of the National Medical Association. In addition to her medical achievements, Dr. Mitchell is a retired Brigadier General from the Air National Guard.
