Peggy O’Dell, currently National Park Service deputy director for operations in Washington, D.C., began her career at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis as a seasonal interpreter while attending UMSL. Four years ago, she was appointed deputy director, playing a major role in park operations and in the management of an annual budget of more than $3 billion and more than 20,000 employees. As the National Park Service nears its 2016 centennial, O’Dell continues to help lead the way forward for NPS, which includes roughly 400 parks and offices throughout the United States.
