Bennett is a Howard Hughes fellow and visiting scientist at the Johns Hopkins Institute of Genetic medicine. In his short career since graduating from Winthrop as a biology major in 2009, he has earned a master’s degree in genetics from Duke and is working on a doctorate in medicine at UNC. His graduate and post-graduate research has included collaboration with multiple international teams and led to key findings in the underlying genetic causes behind rare pediatric diseases. In his spare time he works with medically underserved populations as a bilingual student clinician in his local free community clinic.
