Having been an active member of AASCU for 13 years, I have seen
firsthand the good it can do. This gives me great confidence that we
can—together—accomplish wonderful things for the students of our state
colleges and universities. I begin my presidency optimistic about our
future, committed to building on AASCU’s strengths, and dedicated to
advancing our service and influence.
For
nearly five decades, AASCU has been a leading advocate for the students
of our nation’s great state colleges and universities. This remains
true today, with member institutions that are increasingly committed to
ensuring access and opportunity for their students—even as they face
strong financial challenges.
Today—perhaps more than ever—AASCU has a vital role to play in
the field of American public higher education. I am very proud to assume
the presidency of AASCU at this critical moment, and I look forward to
working with all its members to bring about meaningful and necessary
change.
AASCU is an advocate for public higher education and for
students, a shaper of federal policy, and a resource to its member
presidents, chancellors, and spouses and partners. One of AASCU’s
enduring strengths is that its staff works not only for its members but with
its members, fostering successful partnerships and serving as a
resource to presidents and chancellors to enhance the effectiveness of
member institutions and of AASCU itself.
