The Operation College Promise (OCP) Creating Environment for Veteran Success Model New Jersey Association of State Colleges and Universities (NJASCU) Project Description: A professional development and outreach model designed to educate veterans and professionals on contemporary resources available to establish environments for veteran success, particularly on college campuses. The project includes a comprehensive website with monthly updates provided through Mail Call – the program’s e-newsletter. Additionally, OCP’s unique Certificate for Veterans’ Service Provider (CVSP) workshop offers professionals a 2 ½ day training designed to delineate a framework for serving veterans in the Post-9/11 era. A 100-page national resource guide serves as a transferable resource for both veterans and providers. VET NET Ally Seminar California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) Project Description: The VET NET Ally Seminar is a faculty and staff awareness program designed to educate the campus community about the needs of military veterans in higher education and the diversity of experience and background they bring to institutions.  Modeled after LGBT Safe Zone (or Safe Space) programs common on campuses across the U.S., the half-day VET NET Ally Seminar focuses on pre- and post-military culture, personal identity issues, and services available to assist veterans in achieving personal, social, and educational goals.  After attending, participants are given a sticker to display in personal workspaces to show support for veterans on campus.  Read more >>
