• Scholarships for Undergraduate Study in China

    We are pleased to announce that the Educational Office, Embassy of the People's Republic of China, in Washington, D.C., has approved the following Chinese Government Scholarship awards for undergraduate students attending AASCU member colleges and universities. 

    Scholarship Award Details

    1. About AASCU-Chinese Government Scholarship:

      • The AASCU designated scholarship from the Chinese Embassy is only eligible for undergraduate students from AASCU member institutions to study one academic year in Chinese language combined with a selection of academic subjects

      • The value of scholarship awards, offered by China Scholarship Council,
        is designated to the Chinese universities, not to the individual students.

      • Candidates are encouraged to apply from the list of Chinese institutions AASCU recommended (see Recourse Section on AASCU website). These AASCU partner institutions have students and faculty exchange programs.

      • The academic program in China begins in early September 2016 and is expected to be completed in July 2017.

    2. Eligibility:

      1. U.S. citizens and legal permanent residence in the United States
      2. Full time students enrolled in AASCU institutions
      3. Students with overall GPA of 3.0 or above
      4. Strong interest in Chinese language and culture, and participating in exchanges programs between the United States and China

    3. Scholarship items:
      Each scholarship is valued at approximately $10,000.00 US dollars.
      International round trip airfare and China Visa Application Fee are the responsibility of the student. 

      The scholarship includes:
      • Tuition and fees
      • Room and Board
      • Health Insurance
      • Travel/Conference Allowance/fees
      • Stipend

    Application Requirements

    1. Finish the Chinese Government Scholarship application at Chinese Scholarship Council: http://laihua.csc.edu.cn 

    2. Build your application package (two sets of each document):

      • Printed online application form with picture attached
      • Notarized photocopy of highest diploma
      • Photocopy of transcript from the student's AASCU college or university (at least one of them is official transcript)
      • Two recommendation letters from academic advisors or senior administrators
      • Personal statement listed with the applicants study purposes and objectives
      • Chinese language proficiency exam score (HSK) if ever taken; knowledge of Chinese is not required, but preferred.
      • A list of three academic institutions in China where you would like to study

    3. Application Deadline: March 15, 2016
    4. Mail the required application material on or before March 15, 2016 (by post mark), and the mailing address is:
