Boosting Student Responsibility through a Tavern Owners Agreement State University of New York at New Paltz Project Description: The Tavern Owners Agreement, originally established in 1999, was facilitated by the College and strongly supported by town and village officials. In addition to providing guidelines for self-monitoring their business practices, efforts increased to educate students about responsible and lawful consumption of alcohol and appropriate civic customer behavior as it relates to their safety and academic success. The Agreement is complemented by the innovative collaboration to promote a “Good Neighbor” initiative and “OneLess” alcohol prevention campaign. Read more >>

U-Choose: Your Experience, Your Outcomes, Your Limits St. Cloud State University Project Description:  U-Choose, the Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Program at St. Cloud State University, utilizes a comprehensive, environmental management approach to address alcohol and other drug–related problems within the college community. Empowering students to make informed choices about alcohol use, U-Choose helps students understand how high-risk drinking can lead to negative consequences; doing so in a way that is engaging, fun, and interactive. In order to be effective in our approach we value the following key components of effective prevention: student involvement, strategic planning, assessment and evaluation, media advocacy, senior administrative support, and developing and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
