Scholarships for Undergraduate Study in China
We are pleased to announce that the Educational
Office, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, in Washington, D.C., has
approved the Chinese Government Scholarship awards for U.S. undergraduate
students attending AASCU member colleges and universities for the 2020 to 2021
academic year. We are able to offer scholarships for one academic year
(September 2020 - July 2021), or semester programs in the Fall (September 2020
- February 2021) or Spring (March 20201- July 2021).
Scholarship Award Details
1. About AASCU-Chinese Government Scholarship:
- The AASCU designated scholarship from the
Chinese Embassy is only available to undergraduate and graduate students
from AASCU member institutions.
- The scholarship allows students to study the
Chinese language and/or other available academic subjects for either
one academic year or one semester.
- The scholarship money, offered by China
Scholarship Council is disbursed to the Chinese universities, not to
individual students
- Candidates are encouraged to apply for the AASCU
recommended Chinese partner universities listed in the Resource
Section. AASCU currently has student and faculty exchange programs
with these partner institutions.
- The one-year academic program in China is from
September 2020 to July 2021.
- The semester program is either from September
2020 to February 2021, or from March 20201to July 2021.
2. Eligibility:
Applicants should have a strong interest in Chinese language and culture, and participating in exchanges programs between the United States and China. Applicants are required to be:
- U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents in the United States
- Full time students enrolled in AASCU institutions
- Students with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above
3. Scholarship Benefits:
Each scholarship is valued at approximately
$10,000.00 US dollars for the one-year program. International round-trip
airfare and the China Visa Application fees are the responsibility of the
student.
The scholarship includes:
- tuition;
- room and board;
- health insurance;
- travel/conference allowance/fees, and:
- stipend
Application Process
1. Submit the following items to AASCU via email to Sufei Li by March 15, 2020.
- AASCU Application Form (Please select three preferred Chinese universities from AASCU’s Recommended University List)
- Copy of applicant's passport page
- Current transcript
- Personal statement listing the applicant's study objectives
- Two recommendation letters (from academic advisers or senior administrators)
2. AASCU will recommend qualified students to the
Chinese Embassy and notify students to begin the CSC online application.
